Egypt: US and Israel to blame for talks’ failure

The government-controlled Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram today blamed the United States and Israel for the expected failure of US President Bill Clinton’s attempt to break the deadlock in the peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, Israel Radio reported.

Had Israel decided to follow the path of peace, Al-Ahram writes, the Middle East would look completely different today. And had the United States fulfilled its proper role in the peace process, the paper added, the process would not be in a state of collapse today and President Clinton would not find himself in such an embarrassing position.
